Bridal Session in Grandma’s Dress

When I first talked with Marissa and Jordan about their wedding day, she told me that she wanted to do a bridal session in grandma’s dress. I was so excited to hear this and do something so unique. Her grandma wore this dress 60 years ago when she got married and Marissa’s mother wore the dress 30 years ago for her wedding. The dress was so delicate and certainly didn’t look 60 years old. Marissa did have to do some repairs on the beading at the top and you couldn’t tell at all.

Marissa wore the her grandma’s dress and we did several photos around her wedding venue. She even had framed photos of her grandma and mom in the dress that we added into the photos. To have 3 generations in one dress is simply unheard of. Marissa also wore the same head piece and that became her something old with her wedding dress.

After we took photos in her grandma’s dress, Marissa got into her wedding dress and it looked stunning on her. She went in thinking she didn’t want a long train but this dress was opposite! The train on the dress is so beautiful! Let’s be real, she would look amazing in a potato sack, but this dress was made for her!

It’s not often I get to photograph a bride that has modeled wedding dresses but she makes it easy to photograph her. I thought of the idea to do a composite of her in both dresses and I think it turned out amazing! I’m so excited that I can finally show these off. Waiting the last few weeks has felt like a year.
