Melissa and Jake were married at The Lodge last Thursday. It finally felt more like fall and we welcomed the slightly cooler temps.
Melissa and Jake met through an online dating app. Jake first messaged Melissa, she was very busy so they only chatted every other day or so. Jake referred to her as every other day girl until they finally met in person and then he quickly promoted her to every day girl.
On their third anniversary weekend, he arranged for her best friend and her husband to come to Texas for a visit. They arrived at dinner their friends told them the table wasn’t ready and that they were down by the water so they went to meet them. When they approached the water, with a beautiful lighthouse in the background, Melissa noticed a book on a nearby bench. Jake told her to go see what it was. When she picked it up, she realized he had made her a scrapbook, complete with everything he kept from their relationship, from cards to movie tickets from dates. On the last page was the question, “Will you marry me?” with a small pouch that said “open me.” As she reached inside, she pulled out a ring. Jake and Melissa are always playing jokes on each other, and it was when she turned the ring over to see it was adjustable. When he saw her facial expression, he told her, “Put that thing away! Your real ring is right here.” Then he got down on one knee, pulled the most perfect ring she could ever imagine out of his pocket, and asked her to marry him. She was so excited that she didn’t even say yes, she said “Put that on my finger!”
The venue was set when we walked in and everything looked beautiful. Their table numbers had photos from various times during their relationship with a nod to the show Friends “The one where…”. It was a fun addition.
They incorporated their pups and the flower dog and ring dog. They both looked so cute with their wedding attire. Melissa and Jake kept things traditional and Jake didn’t see Melissa until she was coming down the aisle. He teared up and it was the sweetest! They exchanged personal vows and rings. It was official they were married!
They had a creative entrance into the reception with a custom song. They danced down the stair case. They had a jump house for the kids to have some fun on during the reception. They had fun mingling with their guests, dancing the night away, playing a little beer pong, and celebrating their love.
