It all started at Prestonwood Baptist Church in a Bible Fellowship class called Equip in 2016. Cortney noticed the cute guy that had coffee and mini donuts every Sunday. He noticed her but thought she might be dating someone else in their class but she wasn’t. The first time they really had a chance to talk to each other was at McAllister’s. He finally reached out to her and they chatted for a couple of weeks and finally spent a little time together.

About a year went by with a few check-ins here and there. She had moved on to a new Bible Fellowship class and he started teaching in Equip. Life seemed to move in different directions for them. They had another check-in with each other in August 2017 but this one was a little different and they kept talking this time. Wesley asked if he could take her out for my birthday but she had plans and asked for a rain check. 10 days later he brought her cookies and Sonic (2 of her favorites) and they knew something was different. It all started to make sense. Their first official date was 4 days later on October 12, 2017. He taught her how to shoot the gun her Dad bought me for her birthday. They are certain God knew what he was doing when he brought them together and even more certain it was at the right time. 

August 11, 2018 is a day Cortney will never forget! It was a brunch just like any other with these girls (or so she thought). They headed for the Meddlesome Moth on a really rainy day. The hostess seated them at a table inside and then came over and asked them to move outside. Not her favorite idea on a rainy day but the girls were on board so why not? They got to the patio and they brought them to a table covered in a sheet. The sheet came down and she started to see what was underneath. Painted canvases that read “Aunt Coco, Mr. Wes wants to say, Will you marry me?” Then she saw Wesley and he got on one knee and asked her to marry him. She was truly so surprised and that’s exactly what he wanted. So many thoughtful details made the proposal perfect. He had her Nieces and their art teacher do the paintings. He placed sapphires in her setting to honor her Dad and their September birthdays. He had coordinated all of it without her knowing a thing. It was truly a magical day!

I’ve known Wesley for a few years when he was a DJ and we kept in touch. He called me and told me about the proposal he had planned and wanted me to be his wedding photographer. I of course said YES and couldn’t wait for Cortney to get the ring so I could meet her. We finally met at The Springs open house and everything fell into place for them. The wedding date was set and they were so excited.

It was a rainy day, just like their proposal day. So they had an indoor ceremony. They chose to do a first look and it was so emotional. Cortney couldn’t wait to see Wesley and he just embraced her and she wept tears of happiness. She’s waited a long time to find her prince and that day was finally here.

After the indoor ceremony, the rain had stopped so we snuck out for a few photos and boy did they turn out great. I loved the wet concrete and that they were just so in love, nothing mattered.

Their reception was filled with lots of family conversations and mingling with guests. They had the perfect wedding and everything was exactly the way Cortney wanted it to me. I am so honored to have captured their day!
