Lisa and Ben were married last weekend at the beautiful Paradise Cove on Lake Grapevine. I have always loved this venue and the owner, Tina, is just so sweet. The outside area where ceremonies take place is my favorite spot. So many picture locations! I love shooting Paradise Cove weddings.
In September of 2011, Lisa was invited to a friend’s house to relax after a long dance rehearsal for her sorority’s homecoming performance. She was introduced to Ben “the roommate” and they instantly clicked. The two spent countless evenings sitting on the porch of the “Rolling Stone house” talking about anything and everything. They went on a few dates, but still put their friendship first. During New Year’s Eve, all of their mutual friends did everything in their power to put them together. Countdown to midnight… they had their first kiss, and sparked the relationship that has been growing for the last 5 years. In 2016, Ben planned the perfect opportunity to propose by arranging a camping trip for the month of October. 4 1/2 years prior, Lisa and Ben took their first camping trip as a couple to Turner Falls in Davis, Oklahoma with their closest friends and had not been back since. He convinced her that they needed to go back to Turner Falls to enjoy the great outdoors and visit Norman, OK, and he planned with Lisa’s dad to take care of Echo, their German Shepherd, while they were gone. While camping and hiking, they walked back up the bridge that faced the waterfall and where they had taken a picture on their first trip…. that’s when he got on one knee and tears of joy overwhelmed her. They celebrated that night around a campfire with s’mores, then got to celebrate with college friends the next day.
When I first met Lisa, we talked for THREE hours. I felt like I had known her forever. She is the sweetest person with the best heart. I met Ben on the wedding day and he and I felt like we knew each other just by Lisa talking about each of us. I loved watching them together throughout the day. These two are the definition of true love. It was so easy photographing them and I couldn’t stop.
Lisa and Ben chose to stick to tradition and not do a first look but she wanted a few photos of him blindfolded which turned out so cute. The weather wasn’t quite what we all hoped for. The wind was crazy and I think blowing over 30MPH. It was chilly but the ceremony was so beautiful. Echo was even in the wedding. He was the best ring-dog! After the ceremony we warmed up for a minute then went back out to take some photos. The sky was so beautiful and the wind worked in Lisa’s favor with her dress and veil blowing. It was such a few mini photo session. The first photo is probably one of my favorites from this year. I just love how it turned out. The decor was wine bottles, wine corks, pine cones and tree slices. The reception was filled with lots of laughs and loads of dancing. It was such a wonderful night. I’m so happy I was their to experience this magical day for Lisa and Ben.
