How to Personalize Your Engagement Photos | Dallas Wedding Photographers

Personalize Your Engagement Photos

Congratulations, you’re engaged! You’ve probably already jumped into Pinterest boards and wedding inspiration, trying to figure out how to make your day unique and special to the two of you. But have you thought about how to express your personalities in your engagement photos?

Don’t get us wrong, beautiful photos are wonderful to have! But your images will mean so much more if they’re significant or special to you. Fortunately, there are many ways you can personalize your engagement session to express who you are individually and as a couple.

Bring along your dog

Pets are family, right? So, why wouldn’t you include your favorite furry friend in your engagement session? While the idea of including your dog may seem stressful, it can actually put you more at ease and help both of you have a little more fun. We just suggest bringing along a friend or family member to watch your dog when you’re busy taking other photos.

Get all dressed up

Whether you and your partner are the sweatpants and chill on the couch type or you love to get glammed up, your engagement session is the perfect excuse to go all out with your look! You can feel like models or celebrities strutting the red carpet in your fancy duds. Plus, this is a great excuse to have a day at the spa and get all pampered before you step in front of the camera!

Focus on your interests

Do you and your partner have a shared hobby? Maybe you both enjoy kayaking, cooking or even just reading. Whatever you love to do together, consider including these hobbies and interests in your engagement photos. What better way to let everyone know who you are as a couple than by showing off a few of your favorite things? Bonus: doing an activity you love can make you feel more at ease during your engagement session!

Tell your love story

Your engagement session is the perfect opportunity to reflect on your journey as a couple and how your love began. Consider including a favorite spot in your photos, like the location of your first date, your proposal spot or even the home you share together. You can even include mementoes from your relationship, like gifts you’ve given each other or notes you’ve written to add an especially sentimental touch.

Add your wedding colors or theme

If you’ve already decided on a particular color scheme or theme for your wedding day, consider incorporating it into your engagement photos. This can be as subtle or overt as you’d like. Just be aware, if you think you may change your mind during wedding planning, you might want to hold off on this one!

Recreate a favorite photo

Do you have a photo of the two of you that you absolutely love? Maybe it’s your first photo together, or maybe it’s just a special image. A fun way to celebrate your engagement is to recreate that photo as closely as you can. This way, you can commemorate the time that has passed while looking forward to what the future may hold. You can even continue to recreate this photo later on at your wedding or on anniversaries, so you can look back and see how the two of you have changed.

Just relax and be yourselves!

I know, it’s easier said than done, but the best way to personalize your engagement photos is to show off your personalities! After all, you were drawn to each other because of who you are. Show the world what makes your love so special!
